What are Pro Components?
You feel more confident and you have more comfort; You feel more grip traction of the rear wheel, you accelerate faster; Your bike rides higher in the stroke when navigating repeated bumps (no 'packing down'). WP's Pro Components line is aftermarket suspension designed for riders who want the highest quality components and are willing to pay a premium.
Pro Components are manufactured to tight tolerances using high quality materials, fine surface finishes, and low-friction coatings. This reduces friction compared to OEM suspension components, and is perhaps their most significant advantage. In fact, to achieve a similar feeling of stiffness to the OEM suspension, all Pro Components required much stiffer damping. The additional “stiffness” in the OEM components is all due to friction. Friction is perhaps the one thing in suspension where no compromise is involved: less friction is always better. When setup appropriately for the rider, Pro Components can deliver high confidence at high speeds.
The Xact Pro fork is the successors to the well-regarded 'Cone Valve' fork. It retains the save Cone Valve technology, and is available in three basic variants: closed cartridge with coil springs, closed cartridge with air spring, and open cartridge with coil springs. The Cone Valve itself is nothing magical - it's simply a shimless mid-valve. The cup-in-cone valve actuates via a coil spring, providing the variable orifice function shims normally handle. The Cone Valve spring rate is linear, unlike shims which are progressive. Also unlike shims, it does not have a maximum safe deflection distance. It can be setup stiffer and with less float than a shimmed valve without killing rider comfort.
The Xact Pro shock features an updated version of the Trax mechanism used in previous Trax shocks. Trax reduces rebound damping when the rear wheel is off the ground, helping get the tire back to traction as quickly as possible. Trax is now externally adjustable with a screwdriver, which makes the Trax function infinitely easier to use and understand. The shock uses the same high-end construction as the Xact Pro fork, and as a result, it sees a similar reduction in friction compared to OEM components. It uses a nitrogen bladder instead of a piston separator — which has advantages (lower friction) and disadvantages (requires more frequent service) compared to WP’s traditional piston separator setup. As with past Trax shocks, it separates high-speed compression and low-speed compression into two separate adjusters instead of a concentric dual compression control (DCC) adjuster. The shock shaft includes a rebound separator valve, which isolates compression and rebound adjustments, and increases low speed compression damping at the mid-valve (which can aid in pressure balance).
Tuning
Like any suspension components, the Pro Components depend entirely on the setup. The best components in the world can’t make a poor or mis-matched setting perform well. Think of it as hardware and software: suspension components are the hardware, and the valving, springs, and air gap are the software. One can’t work without the other. Kreft Moto is experienced with WP’s range of recommended setups, as well as customized versions based on our own testing. Our experience enables us to select and install a setting that makes the most of your Pro Components purchase.

*As part of our revalve services for WP Pro Components, Kreft Moto dyno tests all Pro Components after the initial revalve and compares the results to a known baseline, then adjusts the shim setting and/or clicker settings to match a target outcome. We feel this additional quality control step is necessary to deliver consistent and predictable results for Pro Component revalves. Suspension components of any kind have some variability from one specimen to the next. Even though two forks or two shocks have exactly the same valving configuration, they will rarely generate the same damping forces. Dampers are very sensitive to small differences in the geometry of valve components, and perfect consistency is not possible even in high-quality components. Additionally, WP’s Pro Component products have undergone multiple design revisions and tune iterations in recent years. These iterations often look the same but can produce radically different results. Dyno verificaiton and fine tuning allows us to adjust for these inconsistencies and deliver the desired suspension setup.
